The Cheraw Arts Commission presents Holiday Showcase exhibit during November at the Burr Gallery. The exhibit features fine crafts that include textiles, jewelry, glassware, and ceramics and artwork.
Textile artist and performer with Sidecar Social Club Lisa Veronica Woods from Raleigh will display her one-of-a-kind creations that include fanciful hats, art-to wear wraps and accessories. Her current textile work is a mixture of newly hand-knit, crocheted and felted pieces joined with repurposed cashmere, fine wool and other natural, luxury fibres. Ms. Wood shapes, sews and hand felts pieces into sculptural forms, incorporating new knit elements of luxury fibres such as mohair, silk, angora, bamboo, wool and silk roving. She is the "girl half" of Moss Robot, a design/art studio she and her husband founded in 2009.
Hand crafted jewelry by metal artists Beth Wicker, Carrie Story and Brenda Branson will be featured in the exhibit. Hand blown glass items by Meaghan Gann of Foundry G Glass and ceramics by Jane Crossman will be displayed. Local artists Robin Bersinger and MJ Martin will also have their creations displayed.
The public is invited to an Exhibit Opening on Thursday, November 3 from 5:00-7:00pm. The Burr Gallery is located at the Cheraw Community Center - 200 Powe Street. Items in the exhibit will be available for purchase. The exhibit will be displayed throughout November. Gallery hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm - Monday-Friday.
