Cheraw Planning Commission Holds Public Hearing on Proposed Changes to the Cheraw Zoning Ordinance

The Cheraw Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 13th, 2023 at 6PM on proposed changes to the Town of Cheraw’s Zoning Ordinance.  The public hearing will take place in the Cheraw Town Hall at 200 Market Street.  The purposes of these changes are to amend the Zoning Ordinance to account for changes in Cheraw’s Form of Government from the Mayor-Council Form to the Council Manager form of Government.  The proposed changes eliminate conflicts within the text of the Cheraw Zoning Ordinance, clarify interpretations of uses within certain zoning districts, transfer assigned responsibilities of the zoning ordinance from the Planning Commission to the Board of Zoning Appeals in line with state law, and amendments to parking requirements to help reduce the amount of open space in the Town of Cheraw that is utilized for paved parking surfaces.  A full copy of the zoning ordinance with proposed changes is available on the Town of Cheraw’s website at www.cheraw.com or you may request a copy by calling Town Hall at 843-537-7283.  Questions relating to this notice may be directed to Rob Wolfe at 843-537-7283 or by email at rwolfe@cheraw.com.

If you require assistance attending this public hearing please contact Rob Wolfe by Thursday, November 9th, 2023 at 12PM.
